Sunderland vs Bristol City team news: 4 doubts, 8 out of Championship clash.

The Robins will meet Sunderland on Saturday.

Bristol City will be without several important players for Saturday’s Championship match against fellow mid-table side Sunderland at Stadium of Light.

The Robins are coming off a 1-0 victory over Plymouth on Monday, thanks to Nahki Wells’ second-half header.

That victory capped off an excellent Easter weekend for Liam Manning’s side, which had earlier defeated Premier League contenders Leicester City at Ashton Gate thanks to a spectacular strike from Anis Mehmeti.

City have been boosted by the returning faces of Joe Williams, Matty James and Scott Twine of late, all three featured against Leicester and the Pilgrims.

All three have been welcome returns for the Robins as they seek to finish the season on a positive note heading into the summer.

Elsewhere, Kal Naismith has been making steady progress but Saturday will likely come too soon for him, while Ayman Benarous is set to feature more for City’s u21s as he builds his fitness back up.

Sam Bell and Rob Atkinson are long-term absentees and won’t feature again this term.

Their opponents will likewise be without some key players. Niall Huggins, Dennis Cirkin, and Jenson Seelt are all long-term absentees.

Elliot Embleton, Aji Alese, Nazariy Rusyn, and Corry Evans are also expected to miss the encounter, but might play if necessary.

The Black Cats will be looking to avenge their 5-1 loss to Blackburn Rovers last time out, which should make for an exciting match.

Here’s a complete list of outs and doubts for the upcoming match.

1. Kal Naismith (Bristol City) – OUT

Naismith has suffered several setbacks with his hamstring in recent times and despite making good progress, will miss the match.

2. Corry Evans (Sunderland) – DOUBT

The midfielder has been out for a long time after suffering an ACL injury last year. The midfielder has featured for Sunderland’s u21s and could feature.

3. Sam Bell (Bristol City) – OUT

Will miss the rest of the season after requiring surgery on a hamstring injury.
