Report: Detroit Lions LB announce to leave due to contact negotiations.

After leading the Lions to the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl, Goff signed a long-term extension worth $53 million annually worth $212 million, making him the eighth-highest-paid quarterback in the league.

The deal also includes a record-breaking $73 million signing bonus, surpassing the contract Lamar Jackson signed last spring.

Largest Signing Bonuses in #NFL HIstory

1. Jared Goff, $73M

2. Lamar Jackson, $72.5M

3. Dak Prescott, $66M

4. Russell Wilson, $65M

5. Matthew Stafford, $60M

Goff’s contract could have a trickle-down impact on and become the framework of a potential eventual long-term contract extension for Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys.

But, in the meantime, the Lions are banking on their major investment in Goff paying major dividends in coming years, with one of the league’s most exciting and talented young rosters in place around him.
