REPORT: Green Bay Packers: Former QB Considering Coaching Change

The Green Bay Packers traded Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets just days before the 2023 NFL draft. The deal immediately provided the Jets a “Super Bowl window” as long as Rodgers was at quarterback. However, a torn Achilles put that opportunity on hold for a year.

With the 2024 season approaching, the Jets are hoping to climb back into title contention. However, they may be doing so with a new head coach.

Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers could be looking for a new head coach in New York.

The NFL head coaching carousel ends in 2024, or does it?

ESPN’s Aaron Schatz boldly predicted in a blog published on Friday, February 23, that the New York Jets will fire head coach Robert Saleh and replace him with Mike Vrabel.

“The musical chairs stopped without a place for former Titans coach Mike Vrabel, whose firing came as a surprise. There are too many good head-coaching prospects on the market, as well as too many last-chance coaches, entering the 2024 season.

ESPN’s Aaron Schatz boldly predicted in a column posted on Friday, February 23 that the New York Jets will fire head coach Robert Saleh and replace him with Mike Vrabel.

“The musical chairs stopped without a place for former Titans coach Mike Vrabel, whose firing was a bit of a surprise. There are too many good head-coaching candidates on the market and too many last-chance coaches heading into the 2024 season.

Why not just make the change now? The Jets could jettison a coach with an 18-33 career record in exchange for a coach who has already had success,” Schatz explained. “Vrabel had winning records in four of his six seasons in Tennessee, including leading the Titans to the No. 1 seed in 2021 despite a myriad of injuries.”

While the argument is compelling, the Jets will not be moving on from Robert Saleh this offseason. However, this is a highly likely possibility if the Jets fail again in 2024 while Rodgers is still under contract.

To retain continuity with Aaron Rodgers and the team they have, Jets owner Woody Johnson wants to keep Saleh and Douglas (GM) on board:

“As I mentioned a year ago, we need a quarterback. We had a quarterback for four plays. Since then, we haven’t been able to replace him,” Johnson added. “Having a good quarterback makes everyone’s job easier.” “It improves the line and the receivers.
