REPORT: Miami Dolphins have signed UTEP QB as undrafted free agent.

REPORT: Miami Dolphins sign UTEP quarterback Gavin Hardison as a UDFA.

UTEP quarterback Gavin Hardison has signed a free-agent contract with the Miami Dolphins following the 2024 NFL Draft, according to his agency, as reported by Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Hardison, who stood 6 feet 3 inches and weighed 215 pounds, started 35 games for the Miners in five seasons, throwing for 7,963 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 33 interceptions.

After starting his college career at New Mexico Military Institute, Hardison joined the Miners in 2019 as part of former UTEP head coach Dana Dimel’s second recruiting class.

Hardison made his debut game appearance in 2019, replacing previous four-star recruit Kai Locksley, before becoming the full-time starter in 2020.

His best collegiate season came in 2021, when the New Mexico native threw for 3,218 yards with 18 touchdowns and 13 interceptions as part of a Miners team that featured wide receiver Jacob Cowing, who was selected with the 135th pick in this year’s draft.

However, once Cowing transferred to Arizona the next season, Hardison struggled in 10 games, throwing for 2,044 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions before suffering an injury that ended his season.

In 2023, Hardison started the first five games of the season before being replaced by Cade McConnell, who ended the season as the Miners’ starter. Hardison’s completion rate has never reached 60% in his career, with his greatest mark coming this season at 56.6%, when he finished with 947 yards passing, five touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
