Shock as Climbers Balance on Matterhorn Ridge: Aerial View Stuns Internet

Avertigo-inducing video showing climbers on a ridge at the top of the Matterhorn, one the highest summits in the Alps, has captivated viewers on

The dizzying views from nearly 15,000 feet above sea level were captured in a video shared by one of the climbers, Vincent C., on his TikTok account @vincent98r. The clip has amassed over 873,000 views since it was posted on August 12. The video is overlaid with a warning that says “do not attempt,” noting that “the actions in this video are performed or supervised by professionals.”

The footage was taken on August 10 using an Insta360 camera mounted on a two-meter (around 6.5 feet) pole attached to his backpack, “which provides a really wide viewing angle,” the 25-year-old Swiss climber told Newsweek.”In the video, we are completing the final ridge of the Matterhorn via the Hörnli route,” the poster said. He reached the summit of Matterhorn in three hours and 15 minutes, and the descent took the same amount of time.

Considered the “jewel of the Swiss Alps,” the Matterhorn stands 4,478 meters (around 14,692 feet) above sea level at the border of the western Swiss canton of Valais between Zermatt and the Italian resort of Breuil-Cervinia.

“Its symmetric pyramid shape, the rocky tooth reaching the sky and the light reflections of the nearby Stellisee [lake] make the Matterhorn’s landscape a unique natural spectacle in Zermatt,” says the Zermatt Tourism website.
