Paolo Di Canio has highlighted what Sunderland must do’more’ of for the remainder of the season.

Paolo Di Canio is well-liked on Wearside for his brief time in command of Sunderland.

The Italian succeeded Martin O’Neill in March 2013 and was tasked with keeping the club in the Premier League.

He went on to lead Sunderland to a 3-0 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park, prompting famous knee-sliding celebrations from Di Canio. The Black Cats then won only one of their final five games of the season, but they managed to remain up until the 55-year-old was fired in September.

His stint on Wearside was his last in management over a decade ago, but it appears he is still paying attention to his former club’s progress in the Championship.

@djb100 captured Di Canio addressing Sunderland’s recent form on TikTok while speaking at an autograph signing session.

He stated, “They have done a wonderful job throughout the season because it is evident when you are in the top six that you are doing well.

“But at the moment, they need to push more clearly, you know, because I can’t picture Sunderland not playing in the Premier League because of its fans, families, and stadium. They are simply great and deserve to play in the Premier League.”
