Angus Glover has become a free agent after leaving the Sydney Kings before the end of his contract.
The Sydney Kings have released Angus Glover from the final year of his contract, making the 25-year-old a free agent entering NBL25.
Glover joined the Kings prior to the NBL21 season, having previously played for Sydney’s state rivals Illawarra in four injury-plagued seasons.
He was an important part of the Kings’ back-to-back NBL22 and NBL23 championships, and Kings CEO Chris Pongrass says Glover has left Sydney with the best wishes of the club.
“We can’t thank Gus enough for everything he has given our club,” Pongrass said in a statement. “He contributed significantly to our success throughout his time with us, both on and off the court.
“Gus has faced numerous hurdles in his brief career, but he has accepted them and grown into a leader, hard competitor, and lovely young guy.
“As a club we only want what is best for our players and to allow them the opportunity to continue to grow and develop.”
Glover says the decision to leave the club, while difficult, is best for his career.
“While I’ll miss Sydney I believe, with where my head is at, this decision to leave is the best for me at this point of my career,” Glover said.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone involved at the Kings over the last four years, including the ownership group, Chris Pongrass, and all my incredible teammates.
“The club helped me through some tough times early one, and we won two championships together.”
The NBL free agency window opens on April 15.
