The Sydney Kings have released another player from his contract ahead of the NBL25.

Kings and Makoi part ways before free agency.

The Sydney Kings have begun their roster makeover ahead of NBL25, dismissing South Sudanese guard Jackson Makoi from his contract for next season.

Makoi spent two seasons as a development player with the Kings, appearing in 15 games during his rookie season before being sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a significant knee injury.

He recovered enough to make one appearance for the club during the NBL24 season.

Kings CEO Chris Pongrass wished Makoi well as he considered a move to another team.

“Jackson has a bright future ahead of him,” Pongrass added.

“While a fantastic young player, we both saw a better possibility for him to play important minutes with another club, thus this was the best decision for everyone.

“He played a crucial role as part of our championship team in NBL23 and we will forever be thankful for his time here in Sydney.”

Makoi’s release comes after the Kings re-signed Kouat Noi and Shaun Bruce while also releasing Angus Glover.

NBL free agency will begin on April 15.
