Bruce signs deal to stay with the Kings.
Shaun Bruce has agreed to a two-year agreement with the Sydney Kings.
Shaun Bruce, Sydney’s captain, will continue his career with the team in NBL25 and beyond after signing a new two-year contract.
Bruce, who previously played for Cairns, Brisbane, and Adelaide before joining the Kings ahead of the NBL20 season, established himself as a crucial piece under former head coach Chase Buford and has since been a fan favorite owing to his role in the club’s back-to-back NBL22 and NBL23 titles.
The 33-year-old has played nearly 150 games for the club and averaged 4.1 points per game this season.
“I’m very excited to re-sign in Sydney,” Bruce explained. “I’ve really enjoyed my time in Sydney, and there’s nowhere else I’d rather play, so it was an easy choice.
“Every year in Sydney, the expectation is to win, and the following season will be no exception. While last season was a little low, our expectations remain unchanged: we’ll all use this time to recharge before returning with the goal of winning another title.
“That’s what I love about the Kings, they put you in a position from day one and now with Goorj, it’ll be no different and I can’t wait.””It’s been a fun ride so far and I’m excited to see how far we can push it in the coming years.”
Kings CEO Chris Pongrass believes it was a simple decision to re-sign the veteran guard.
“Brucey is entrenched in this club’s DNA and someone we want around long into the future,” Pongrass went on to say.
“He is an experienced leader, a competitor, and an invaluable member of our team.
“There wasn’t even a question about him returning, we were all aligned in making it happen.”
Bruce joined Alex Toohey, Angus Glover, Jackson Makoi, and Klairus Amir on the Kings’ NBL25 roster.
