Washington Commanders Set to Lose Pro Bowler Starter Before 2024 Season due to Cap Space.

The Washington Commanders made a major offensive line shift on Friday. The Commanders’ offensive line will be a focus point in the 2024 season, as the team is projected to look for a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Washington commanders have a critical choice in April.

The Commanders have the second overall pick in April. The squad has the option of selecting Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, or Jayden Daniels. If the Commanders hope to advance in the league, they will need their offensive line to protect the new quarterback.

The Commanders are ready to release Charles Leno

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Commanders are ready to dismiss veteran left tackle Charles Leno. The 2018 Pro Bowl offensive tackle will undergo hip surgery next week.

Commanders will lose their starting LT in a vital year.

The former Chicago Bears offensive tackle has performed well in his previous three seasons in Washington. According to Pro Football Focus, Leno allowed only three sacks in 631 pass-blocking attempts in 2023. According to Grant Paulsen, the Commanders will save $7.2 million in cap space by 2024.

2023 fourth-round selection Our Lads lists Braeden Daniels as Leno’s backup. Daniels appeared in zero snaps during his first season.

The Commanders could face a situation next season in which a rookie quarterback starts and an inexperienced blind-side blocker is on the periphery.
