West Ham have agreed to sign a top striker, who has 20 goals in 19 games this season.

West Ham United and Manchester United are reportedly vying for Serhou Guirassy, a 27-year-old VfB Stuttgart attacker.

West Ham are apparently interested in Guirassy, according to the German newspaper BILD.

Manchester United are also looking at signing the 27-year-old striker from VfB Stuttgart. The player’s contract has a €20 million release clause.

Since joining VfB Stuttgart, Guirassy has established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most productive strikers.

He was first signed by Stuttgart on loan in September 2022, then last summer, a permanent transfer was finalised.

This season, the striker has been outstanding, especially in the first half of the 2023–24 campaign. In 19 games thus far in all competitions, he has 20 goals and 2 assists.

It makes logical that Manchester United would be interested in Guirassy. Anthony Martial’s contract will expire in the summer transfer window, and the Red Devils will allow him to depart after nine years with the club. Thus, United must recruit a striker before the 2024-2025 season begins, as they require someone to back Rasmus Hojlund.

West Ham United are desperate to spend money on a striker during the summer transfer window. Danny Ings and Michael Antonio are past their primes, and the Hammers need a prolific player.

For West Ham, Guirassy is therefore a viable alternative. And that he is available for only €20 million would be appreciated.

Targeting Guirassy makes sense for both clubs and given his cheap release clause, both the clubs will be looking to sign him to add goals to their lackluster attacks.
